Confirm the discontinued product

This guide concerns QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale, not QuickBooks accounting software. Intuit discontinued Desktop POS 19.0 and connected services on October 3, 2023. Record your installed version and verify what still opens before planning extraction.

Preserve the working source

Keep a protected backup and verify that you can retrieve a known product, customer and historical receipt. Retain the environment needed to read those records while the receiving system is tested. Do not assume a downloaded database can be opened independently.

Separate lists from transactional history

Intuit’s discontinuation guidance describes a Shopify connector for product, customer and vendor lists. It distinguishes these records from transaction history, product images and customer balances that are not included in the same transfer. Verify current connector access for your account before relying on it.

Plan a usable history archive or continued source access where native transaction import is unavailable. Reconcile any liabilities separately; a customer name appearing in Shopify does not establish that a balance moved.

Verify stock and the accounting boundary

Test a complete size/color item and stock at each store. Compare identifiers, prices and customer matches before accepting the catalog. Record the final stock snapshot and subsequent sales.

A POS migration does not migrate the QuickBooks accounting company or re-establish its ongoing connector. Assign that work separately and keep source reports until the retailer accepts the transfer and archive.
