Lightspeed Retail R Series Migration Guide

Confirm that your account is Retail R Series, not X Series or a Lightspeed ecommerce product. Begin with the account’s inventory export and current item import template. Lightspeed documents a spreadsheet workflow for creating and updating inventory items.

Retain source item IDs, custom SKUs, vendor codes and store names in a mapping file. Customer contacts and historical transactions are separate from the item file.

Test one matrix containing several sizes and colors, a stand-alone item and an archived record. The expected outcome must identify the parent matrix, each sellable item and its barcode.

The R Series item importer can add quantity to existing stock. Establish whether the selected operation creates items, updates fields or adds stock, and compare the store quantity before and after the test. Repeating an import without checking can create a reconciliation problem.

Gift cards, credit accounts, history and open purchasing require their own plan. Do not treat their existence in a report as approval for operational import. Ecommerce synchronization and POS setup also have separate owners.

Use the source-to-destination ID map to locate the sample matrix and scan each barcode. Compare prices, costs and quantities at every agreed store; record missing fields and retailer decisions. Start with an assessment and keep source access available until acceptance.
